It’s always a pleasure to get to know new people
especially, when they are as warm and friendly as these two! – Ashley and Lee
were one of the very first couples to have booked us for their wedding and while
we will forever be grateful for the opportunity that they gave us to capture and
document their special day, I think that it is safe to say that we are more
grateful for the opportunity to have even met them <3 When we first met these two, we could easily tell that they were a fun couple with HUGE hearts! While they seemed to be completely opposites from one another there was no denying the fact that they are head over heels in love. In fact, there was never a moment where they were not smiling at one another and we loved hearing about the time that they first met at an ODU football game and the time when they got their first dog and named him Tucker. Even after listening to some of their stories, when the conversation took a big turn for wedding details, we could not help but notice the way that they looked at each other. Ashley seemed to always have these flirty eyes whenever she would look over at Lee and Lee always seemed to have this smile on his face that said “as long as she is happy, I am perfectly happy too.” After all, isn’t that how it should be?!? J
Once
the big day arrived, it was nice to see everything unfold just the way that
Ashley had imagined. The day started off with Zach meeting Lee and his
groomsmen for lunch, where they then went back to a friend’s house for beer and
a few games of corn hole. Pretty relaxing day, wouldn’t you say? I, on the
other hand, met with Ashley and her bridesmaids for hair and makeup. The girls
were such a fun group to be around…they were loud and obnoxious, laughing and
telling jokes, singing to old Brittney Spears songs, and drinking wine…just how
it should be, in my opinion at least. Besides a little alcohol and your best
friends, always seems to be the perfect cure for getting rid of any pre-
wedding jitters. J
After
hair and makeup, I was able to sit with Ashley for a brief moment as she read a
hand written note that Lee had given her just before their ‘first look.’ The
note was very sweet and definitely made everything for the day seem surreal. After
the note we all left to head to Marina Shores for their big reveal. We had Lee
wait at the end of a dock where Ashley waited on the other side and slowly
walked up behind him to tap him on the shoulder. The look of shear surprise on
his face, when he turned around, was magical and we have never seen a couple so
happy! In that moment, there was no one else…just the two of them, which gave
them the perfect opportunity to hug & kiss and take everything in. What most
people do not realize is that there are often very little opportunities to have
those kinds of moments with each other on your wedding day, so it always seems
to be a very special moment.
Once the first look was over we were able to
continue filming and setting up for guests to arrive for the big “I do’s.” The
ceremony took place on a beautiful dock that overlooked the marina and made for
the perfect summer location. Guests were able to enjoy lemonade and watch as
Ashley and Lee pronounced their love to one another. Afterwards, the night qucikly
turned into one of best parties ever! With good food, orange crushes, and a DJ
that knew how to party, everyone seemed to have a great time! We enjoyed
getting to talk to guests and watch as they all danced the night away. We will
never forget the incredible amount of fun that we had with them and we are so
thankful that they invited us to capture their special day! J We
absolutely love you guys!!!
