Emmon's Family

It's not often that we get to take on lifestyle/ documentary style films for people as most people want to have videography for major events in their lives such as weddings or birthdays however, this has got to be one of our favorite style films to do! Not only are we able to get to know people on a deeper level than most, we are able to capture and document a moment in their life that lasts forever. Sometimes that moment can be happy and sometimes that moment can be sad, but no matter the case it's a moment that deserves to be cherished <3
In this film, we were able to meet and spend the day with one of the most incredible strong families that we have ever met. Shauna and Mike appear to be a typical American family with their three children Kayla, Cameron, and Kenzie. They have a beautiful house in a quiet little neighborhood, three crazy dogs to look after, jobs to hold down, homework that keeps them busy, and chores that never seem to end. However, in the midst of their everyday hustle and bustle is something that they have to deal with that is far worse than most could ever imagine or have to deal with...a Glioblastoma diagnosis (a brain tumor that affects the central nervous system) that was discovered in Mike a few months back and has significantly affected the way that he functions on a day to day basis. Since then, Shauna has had to learn to take on many new roles for their family; mowing the lawn, handling all of their finances, taking care of the children, and making important decisions. What used to be considered as "fun family outings" like a trip to the mall or beach, for the Emmon family, now consists of routine trips to the hospital for check-ups. As devastating as it all seems, you will never hear them complain. In fact, its as though they have all learned to just accept the situation that they have been given by appreciating the smaller things in life such as family dinner and walks <3
Now, in case you are wondering where we came in- it all started with a simple email, from a local photographer and make-up artist, that shared their story with us in an effort to hopefully have us join them in throwing them a special surprise....a vowel renewal ceremony for Shauna and Mike! Of course!!! How could we have said no?!?!? Sooooo we were asked to do a short lifestyle film of the family in order for it to be played before the wedding ceremony (ultimately, so that loved ones as well as those who may not know the family could get to know them and their story a little bit more).

We feel honored to have gotten to spend such personal time with this family in their home and we only wish that we could have been able to film over a longer period of time, capturing more special moments. We will forever be touched by their amazing courage, strength, and love <3 If you would like to get to know them and learn a little bit more about their family, please visit Shauna's personal blog at http://gbmblog.com/.
